Kapitime

A game about capital and time · in development

The money game you can't memorize

In Cashflow and Timeflow, a dozen games in, you know every best card and the game is solved. In Kapitime every game is generated fresh: prices, yields, risks, the year the crisis hits. The player who decides well wins, not the one who remembers.

Web and phone. A game takes 15–20 or 45–60 minutes. One world for everyone each day, compare with real people, live tables on a schedule.

Why it matters

Good money games get boring for one reason

Cashflow, Timeflow

What we love, what wore off

  • The income statement as the board: money becomes tangible.
  • Time as a resource and a life until retirement: emotional and relatable.
  • But the decks are fixed: the best deals are known after a dozen games.
  • One optimal path: education, salary, real estate. Then nothing.
  • Two to three hours and manual math: hard to gather people.
Kapitime

What we change

  • A card is a type of deal, not numbers. Price, yield, risk and term are generated per game.
  • Deal quality is hidden. Checking costs time, and time is always short.
  • World rules and an economic cycle per game: today a deposit wins, tomorrow a mortgage.
  • The result is your Dream plus your Footing, not a pile of money. Rich and burnt out does not win.
  • A game takes 45–60 minutes. The app keeps the books.

Signature mechanics

Three traps we have not seen in any game

The common pattern of life: comfort now, a disproportionate bill later. The game teaches you to spot that moment.

The price of saving

Your car, teeth, health and home wear out quietly. Maintenance is cheap and dull; a breakdown costs many times more and arrives at the worst moment. Condition is hidden: "if it doesn't hurt, it's fine".

The debt ring

Borrow from a friend to clear the credit card, take a payday loan to repay the friend. The game never shows your total debt: to see it you have to sit down and count. That is the skill.

Expectations and pressure

Your partner, kids, parents and friends want more. Give in, refuse, negotiate or offer something else: four answers, each with its own price for the budget and for the relationship.

Modes

One for yourself, one for two

Kapitime: Own Path

One character, ten years of life

Pick a city, education and job, like a character sheet. Career, study, side jobs, deals, crises, health. Compete with real people on the very same world, or solo against the market.

Kapitime: Together

A family with shared and personal budgets

Wedding, rent or mortgage, a child, helping parents, a partner's hidden debts. A reason to talk about money without a fight: the post-game review shows where the spiral started and where it could have been broken.

Full realism: whatever happens in life happens in the game. Hence 18+. Schools and companies get a soft mode with the same lessons.

Questions

The short version

When can I play?

The core and balance simulation are in development: thousands of bot games are hunting for a "best card" so that there is none. The first games for the list open once the prototype passes a test with experienced players. We will email the date.

How much does it cost?

The first games are free for everyone on the list. After that, a subscription; we will set the price after the first games, together with the people who played them.

Is this a copy of Cashflow or Timeflow?

No. Kapitime is an original game with its own rules, texts and mechanics. We took only one lesson from those games: fixed decks get memorized.

Can I play offline?

Yes. The game runs on your device. Your result goes to the leaderboard when you are back online. The web version installs on your phone as an app.

Why 18+?

Full mode includes everything life does: illness, divorce, debt, court, losing someone. It is honest, which is why it works. Schools and companies get a soft mode with the same lessons and no heavy events.

Will there be a board game?

Yes, as a second wave: a tabletop version with a companion app that generates parameters and keeps the books. The online version proves the mechanics first.
